Lokala historiska besöksmål : En kvalitativ studie om hur dagens historielärare på gymnasiet brukar den "praktiska undervisningen"

The aim of this report is to investigate and analyse whether active teachers are using local historical points of interests in their teaching of history, as well as the benefits and disadvantages the teachers consider themselves to find in regards to this method of teaching. Furthermore, local historical points of interests and their ability in order to affect the historical consciousness as well as the use of history among the students, will be reported. The method that has been used for the purpose of this study, is a qualitative investigation, of which eight teachers in history have been interviewed at schools in the municipalities of Växjö and Karlskrona. The findings of the study indicates, that the teachers as a matter of fact use local historical points of interest on a regular basis in their teaching of history, with city tours and museum visits being used as the foremost methods. Several teachers find the use of local historical points of interest as positive, as well as the value of a varied education in a new environment. However, the teachers consider the disadvantages regarding this method of teaching to be the short matter of time alongside with the coast of travel. Above all, educational methods such as museum visits often have a tendency to take longer time due to the aspects of both planning and implementation, causing difficulties in the schools at the present time. Moreover, a result regarding students' conditions with reference to their development in history consciousnesses as well as use of history is reported. The teachers do consider the use of local historical points of interest to be useful in order to encourage the students' use of history and history consciousness.
