Description
Summary:A city block in Stureplan, a commercial area of Stockholm awaits a transformation of its buildings in 2025. The project is financed by the quarter's estate owner "ADIA", Investment Authority of Abu Dhabi. With this plan follows a recosntruction of Bångska Palace's 140 year old original façade. Today the façade is the front to a mall and office building which participates in framing the plaza Stureplan.  This Diploma Project "The Ornament as a Reconstruction Tool for Façades" investigates different opportunities to the reconstruction of Bångska Palace with a main focus on the ornament. The original ornaments from 1884, are contributing to the experience and history of the façade but perhaps even more, the understanding of it serving as a surface with the power of representing more than just a selective image of the exclusive built.
