Summary:This study aims to explore which literacy learning methods teachers that work in lower primary school, are using and their thoughts about their choices. The thesis begins with learning theories, previous research and also a review of different literacy learning methods. The empirical material is seven qualitative interviews from teachers working in four different counties. The interviews have been analyzed and discussed with basis in the aim and the question formulations of the study. The result shows that the teachers use not only one, but a mix of several literacy learning methods in their teaching. The informants meet pupils in different level of their literacy learning and the teachers have to adapt the teaching in different ways to enable development for all pupils. According to the teachers there are two recurrent reading impairments. One of them is that the pupil’s don´t know the sound of the letters. The other one is that they are not able to put the sounds together into a complete word.
