Description
Summary:This master thesis project was carried out at Ringhals AB Unit 2. It is focused on modeling and introducing a new control strategy for control loop 21414V141/131 which is a condensate water system. Existing control strategy of the selected control loop is simple feedback control system with one PID controller. Results of current control strategy were taken into account for improvements in terms o f system stability, valve movements and unwanted transients. Problems found in selected loop were; large variations in process variable, extra movement in valve positions and inefficient opening of valves.Simulation model with similar control strategy and results as of real power plant was createdand validated, as new control strategy can be applied and results can be compared. The main recommendation to improve the control system performance was found through cascade control strategy that could assist the current controller. The recommendation was evaluated by designing and implementing the cascade control strategy on the Dymola simulation model. Simulation results pointed out considerable increase in system performanceaccording to the requirements of Vattenfall AB.
