Description
Summary:The origin of this study was the Schools Inspectorate's quality review (2014), which criticized the distance education of municipal adult education. In the review they criticized the distance educations lack of ability to adapt the education to student. The curriculum for the degree program for special teachers (2011) stipulates that these are supposed to help eliminate obstacles and difficulties in the learning environment. This applies to both school-based education and distance education. The aim of this study was to contribute to increased knowledge of distance education in municipal adult education with a focus on accessibility and participation. In the study students in vulnerability’s experience of accessibility and participation was examined. The result shows that students are assigned to carry out tasks on their own and the teacher is reduced to being an appraisal teacher. Teaching is largely non-existent and when students communicate with their teacher, they almost always do so in writing, which results in an increasing of the linguistic vulnerability. Students describes a loneliness and they are critical of the lack of interaction with other students.
