Summary: | The purpose of the study was to investigate what factors may motivate people in leadership positions. The method used was qualitative and the empirical material was collected through semi-structured interviews. The study involved six respondents who consisted of leaders at different levels within the organization. The result was analyzed using phenomenological based sense-concentration, theory and previous research. The results showed that development, estimation and support in work create an association between individual and organization. The study also showed that basic needs need to be satisfied for the individual to be motivated to stay, but the factors we mentioned above motivates the individual over time.
