I think many people do not recognise all of them and I also think the knowledge and the opinion about libraries have to do with use of them. Since I am curious about if this is true or not the purpose of this essay is to find out, through an attitude research, the employees', at industrial research institutes, opinion about library service. My intention is to give a hint of the reality within a selected area. The selection method I have chosen is not a random one but rather a convenience choice. The method is attitude inquiry where I mix questions with firm answer alternatives, question with statements and open questions. Earlier researches show both positive and negative attitudes towards libraries. One investigation showed that accessibility, speed and a high coverage were three important qualities Bujan 1993, s. 17f. I have looked closer on these three factors and for example the question of why some do not use libraries. The respondents in this investigation have a positive opinion of library services, and the use of libraries varies between one time per year to two three times a month. This investigation also showed that the librarian understands the respondents' question and that the librarian most of the time is seen as competent.
