Description
Summary:This thesis discusses design considerations for mid-rise steel frame structures using wood-based flooring systems. Gravity load design aspects including composite behaviour, structural weight, floor vibration and lateral bracing are considered for joisted and panel floors in steel building structures. The influence of joisted wood-based flooring systems on the seismic response of concentrically braced steel frame buildings is assessed based on linear dynamic analyses and the strength and stiffness demands are compared with capacities provided by the Canadian Wood Design Manual. === Applied Science, Faculty of === Civil Engineering, Department of === Graduate
