Teachers from two schools from the same school district implementing school-wide positive behaviour support (SWPBS) completed the SRQS for 360 students (51%) at the beginning (September 2011) and end of the school year (June 2012). Content validity procedures provided evidence that the items on the SRQS measure behaviours associated with student social responsibility. Factor analytic procedures demonstrated that the SRQS possesses a one-factor structure. Reliability procedures demonstrated strong internal consistency and test-retest reliability, as well as strong inter-item and corrected item-total correlations. Teacher ratings were consistently and significantly higher for female versus male students. No significant differences were found across grade level. Results are discussed in terms of implications for practice and future research.
