Pore-size distribution and particle-size distribution studies point out that the unfavourable physical properties associated with Vanderhoof soils are primarily the result of particle-size distribution and low organic matter content; the tight, impervious B horizon of Pineview clay is partially an inherited characteristic and partially developed. A simple modification of M.B. Russell's pore-size distribution apparatus is presented.
