碩士 === 僑光科技大學 === 財務金融研究所 === 104 === This paper aims to investigate the relationship between geographic diversification and financial performance using the panel data from 2005 to 2013 of life insurers in China. This result indicated that geographic diversification have negative influence on the financial performance for the life insurers. This implied that geographic diversification has a negative impact on financial performance. Simultaneously, the negative relation between geographic diversification and performance supports the strategic focus hypothesis. Moreover, while operating areas more focused, the better the company’s financial performance is. Finally, the results also indicated that geographic diversification increase the financial performance when life insurers become smaller
