The completion time is measured, and gait and balance are also observed. There are many technological products for TUG in the market, but are mostly medical devices which cost too much and not suitable for general applications. The purpose of this research is to conduct TUG using motion sensing carpet WhizToys. Combining with other rehabilitation games, WhizToys are designed to be used at home or care center. Experiments are designed to verify the accuracy of conducting TUG using WhizToys, and the relevance of performance of TUG and other games is also examined. Method: 15 participants were recruited, and each participant did TUG 3 times in different modes using WhizToys. A camera was set up to record the process at the same time. Testing results were measured from the video to compare with those output from WhizToys. Correlation between the TUG completion time and the score of chasing game was also examined. Results: The percentage error of each measurement item in accuracy experiment were between 2.82%-5.04%. The basic gait assessment using WhizToys was not statistically different from direct measurement. The correlation coefficient between the TUG completion time and the score of chasing game was -0.49. TUG performance can be used for prescribing the “difficulty level” of the users for WhizToys games.
