Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 設計學研究所 === 107 === In recent years, people's life expectancy has been continuously prolonged due to the progress of medical science. According to statistics from Ministry of the Interior, Taiwan entered an aging society in 1993. Ministry of Health and Welfare began to implement the long-term care program in 2007. After paying the site visits to the long-term care centers, we have found that there are also many problems in Taiwan's nursing homes for the aged. This study hopes to help the elderly with their cognitive problems in the environmental space through color design, thus improving the quality of life in the environmental space of the long-term care center. There are three main purposes of this study: (1) to collect information on the use of color in the existing long-term care center space; (2) to understand the color association of the senior citizens in the long-term care center space; (3) to explore the possibility of establishing color-assisted spatial memory in long-term care environment. In the early stage of this study, interviews were conducted, and then 14 color systems of Deli latex paint were selected to measure the space color association of the elderly in long-term care centers for a total of 60 elderly people, including one group of 30 from the long-term care center and another group of 30 living at home respectively. SPSS was used for data statistics of both groups to understand the perception and difference of color selection, followed by a color-assisted spatial memory survey to explore the use of color association. The conclusions of this study are as follows: 1.The results of observation on the life behavior of the elderly in the long-term care centers show that: (1) There is often the problem of way-finding in the environmental space, and the elderly need to rely on special objects to remind them of the way; (2) There is a frequent search for lost items; (3) Due to memory deterioration, the elderly often forget to do something and need to rely on the service personnel to remind them of it. 2.The survey results of color and spatial association: "warm" colors are preferred for the friendship hall; "clean and quiet" colors are preferred for the dormitory; "bright" colors are preferred for the toilet; "lively and vigorous" colors are preferred for the dining area; the colors of "vitality and vividness" are preferred for the leisure activity rooms and the colors of "nature, green plants" are preferred for outdoor activities. The colors that are generally not selected are "blue or dark colors". 3.The survey results of color-assisted spatial memory show that most of the elderly people suffer from insensitivity, slow response, memory loss, mental retardation and obstinacy. Color will be one of the ways to seek improvement. The results of this study can provide a reference for the future long-term care center to develop environmental space color models in the hope of helping the elderly in the long-term care center to improve their spatial cognition, path finding, object finding and memory in their daily life, and provide a reference and direction for the environmental space color design for the long-term care center in the future.
