Hence, the search for an alternative energy sources, including solar energy, hydroelectric power, geothermal energy, marine energy, and biomass energy has captivated a greater attention. Biomass energy is commonly found in the biodegradable waste that could be transferred to bio-ethanol by pyrolysis, hydrogenation, distillation, and hydrolysis. There are numerous problems in the production process of bio-ethanol. Acid is used in the pretreatment and the conversion to bio-ethanol is expensive. Although the conversion methods from algae biomass to alcohol was developed, still the disposal of solid waste is a major problem. It is a vital problem as to how to deal with the agricultural waste. According to the research, 72% of agricultural waste can be recycled or reused in Taiwan, and can be used as a resource of cellulose. Glucose can be produced by the hydrolysis the cellulose, and converted to bio-ethanol. Ionic liquids have been used as a catalysis in the process of hydrolysis. However, the recycling of these ionic liquid is challenging and methods to improve the recycling efficiency has to be investigated. Shu, Chi-Min 徐啟銘 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 59 zh-TW
