The equivalent circuit parameter values of the induction motor are calculated from its mechanical structure sizes, then according to the electric machinery theory, the electrical characteristics of the induction motor are analyzed by the equivalent circuit. This is followed by adjusting mechanical structure size, such as core slot angles, wire diameters and air-gap length to observe its variations in its electrical characteristics and in each equivalent circuit parameter. Then the influences of the number of rotor slots on the motor’s electrical characteristics such as power, efficiency and induced torque can be observed. Finally, Taguchi method is used to find a combination of the mechanical parameters so that the highest induced torque can be achieved.
