For the medical application of foot pressure, we can analysis the foot pressure to detect the structure and situation of the foot. This study mainly develops a set of customized shoes with foot pressure sensor, LED lights and buzzers to prevent patients with lower limb fractures from excessive weight bearing. This study actually carried out clinical tests for nearly 2 months. As the fracture recovery, we gradually increased the setting of the warning value and the data was collected. There are some percentage of peaks exceeding the warning value in each interval but the average value of each interval is controlled within the warning value. However, the highest value and frequency of the standard deviation will gradually increase as the warning value increases, indicating that the subject has apparently tried to increase weight bearing during the recovery period. Besides, the data fluctuates greatly in the earlier half of the test time. In the latter half of the time, although the maximum peak value increases as well as the setting of the warning value, the data is much smooth overall. Thus, we conclude that our customized shoe can provide appropriate alarm to the subject with lower limb fracture to follow the progressive weight-bearing ambulation protocol.
