Among key issues to be concerned with for businesses and organizations as well as for their talented leaders is to acquire a panorama of every corporate operation so as to figure out the right strategic plan for development in line with the general development of the society. In parallel, any issue pertaining to human resources (in terms of quality and quantity) is always catered for and brought to the forefront as it is a key factor determining the development and success of businesses in particular and of the entire society in general. From that point of view, the management and assignment of work is a mandatory and decisive factor affecting the overall performance of each and every employee. Through the assessment of work performance, managers are able to see through the advantages to further promote the competency as well as the shortcomings to be mitigated during their employee’s workflow. In the current context, in numerous enterprises, the first concern of managers has no longer lied in sales or product outputs. Instead, when starting business, they will place their focus on how to build up human resources to fulfill work requirements. This means work performance assessment is a crucial activity for an enterprises. Given the operation status of the company where I have had my probation, I chose to conduct my graduation thesis on “Actual status of work performance assessment in Van Xuan Cable and Wire Limited Company” to study on the actual work performance assessment in the company against the theory. The objective is to provide some recommendations and solutions to address weaknesses, limitations and improve assessment system and assessment efficiency in the company. In particular, the objectives and research methodology of my thesis are as following: Present and systemize theories on work performance and work performance assessment.
