hair dyestuffs play an important role in the market, while either the suppliers or consumers neglect the side-effects of these chemical dyestuffs. Currently, some ingredients such as PPD or hydroquinol are used in the dyestuffs. In case these ingredients penetrate the skin, they will cause some potential damages to the health of human body. The researcher has more than 30 years’ experiences in this industry, and wish to investigate the differences between chemical and natural hair dyestuffs, also to suggest the usage of natural hair dyestuffs for the sake of health, safety and environmental protection.
The purpose of the study intents to probe the effects upon the hair-styling industry in case the natural dyestuffs be prevailing through the discussion of experiential consumptions of both chemical and natural dyestuffs. The analysis of the qualitative research are by in-depth interviewing and SWOT. The research interviews hair salon owners, consumers, experts and scholars to get the following conclusions：
1. Natural hair dyestuffs are gradually welcome by consumers through experimental consumptions.
2. Most of Taiwan fashion trends follow those in Japan, therefore natural hair dyestuffs would be prevailing in the near future and effect many aspects such as education, accreditation and marketing. The organization of hair salon will move to large-scale and chain-store models.
3. The prices of natural dyestuffs are a little expensive for the present time. If much more companies involved, the prices are anticipated to be lower. It will be helpful for the promotion.
4. The awakening of consciousness of consumption, health and safety will level up the natural dyestuffs’ demands. It takes a longer time for operation, therefore it is necessary to design a comfortable and relaxing surroundingsand atmospheres.
5. Those who have problems of broken hairs, scalps damaged or aged white hair prefer natural hair dyestuffs because of the ingredients of the plants.
6. To promote natural hair dyestuffs, it is suggestable the suppliers should provide much more printed DM or take more advertising in different medias. In the meantime, the colors of natural plants are fading, mono and so on, the suppliers should pay efforts in developing better ones.
