Summary: | 碩士 === 育達科技大學 === 文化創意設計研究所 === 107 === This research is mainly focused on the effectiveness of educating female inmates im-prisoned in the Taipei Women Detention Center of the Agency of Corrections, Ministry of Justice through introducing dancing lessons. By planning various types of dancing lessons for female inmates, we this research gets to demonstrate the possibility if the art of dance is beneficial toward the education and correction for female inmates. The dancing lessons we’ve adopted cover a wide range of elements including music, education, physical coordination, aesthetic and so on. Dancing was believed to be one kind of multifunctional performing art, which we’re also convinced that there would be certain effectiveness and advantages for educating female inmates.
The numbers of behavior of female committing crimes have been increasing year of year. In the past, the institutes of Agency of Corrections, Ministry of Justice used to be only playing the role of imprisoning, singly functioning as penalty conductor while paying less attention to the human rights such as prison living quality and proper management toward inmates. However, the judicial policy of our country has been reforming as the social value keeps moving forward, the method of correcting inmates are also having positive progression through the efforts from academies and practical experiences. Art and culture related lessons, supportive social resources and intervention programs are now introduced to the correction institutes. Through these more legitimate, proper and positive methods, the inmates are expected to eliminate their negative behaviors in the past while acquiring several living skill simultaneously and thus be able to return to the society more smoothly.
To sum, this research is based on the discussion about the effectiveness of educating female inmates through adopting dancing lessons by using document analysis, in-depth interviewing, observational method, one-on-one interviews and referring to related litera-tures from domestic and abroad. Furthermore, the innovative prison managing methodolo-gy and social resources are also introduced. Therefore, we will be able to discover the connections how dancing lessons trigger the art potential and personality development of inmates, and hence providing reliable reference for the relevant researches about counsel-ing and educating female inmates among correction institutes.
