Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between College enrollment motivation and major identification identification for the national comprehensive university. The difference in college enrollment motivation and major identification of the national comprehensive university with various demographics was further analyzed.
This study employed questionnaire survey technique, using the “Questionnaire for College Enrollment Motivation and Major identity of National comprehensive university freshmen”. The research participants were the National comprehensive university freshmen Totally 330 questionnaires were send out, valid samples were 297. The data obtained from the questionnaire survey were analyzed and processed by statistical methods such as descriptive statistics, T-tests and one-way ANOVA.This study found below:
1. The current situation of College Enrollment Motivation in National comprehensive university freshmen is very high, and the “Internal factors” is the best.
2. The current situation of Major Identification in National comprehensive university freshmen is very high.
3. There is a significant difference in College Enrollment Motivation among the National comprehensive university freshmen of different “Major in law” and “Progression pipeline”; there is no significant difference in the size of different “Gender” and “Family Socioeconomic Status”.
4. There is a significant difference in Major Identification among the National comprehensive university freshmen of different “Gender”, “Major in law” and “Progression pipeline”; there is no significant difference in “Family Socioeconomic Status”.
5. Significant positive correlation between College Enrollment Motivation and Major Identification.
6. College Enrollment Motivation has predictive power for Major Identification. Among them, “Internal factors” predicts the best.
According to the conclusion, this study proposed recommendations as references for Secondary Education Institutions, Higher Education Institutions, and future studies.
