This study investigated the effects of edible natural plant extracts of Momordica charantia L. on liver function index in fatty liver model mice. The study used ICR strains of 5-week-old mice as experimental animals at a feeding temperature of 23 ± 2 ° C and daily light for 12 hours to provide sufficient feed and water. At the 16th week, the low-calcium feed group began to feed special feed: AIN-93M mature rodent diet (D10012M) and same with 0.25% Ca (D16072601), and the experimental group was fed with bitter melon prepared from emerald bitter gourd (Nongyou 2486). The extracts were dosed 1 and 5 times and sacrificed after 6 weeks. The results showed that there was no significant difference in body weight and liver weight between the low calcium feed group and the mountain bitter gourd extract group. However, in the feeding of Momordica charantia L. extract, the results showed that the values of liver function indexes such as GOT, GPT and ALP were compared with those fed the low calcium diet group, which decreased by 55.08%, 34.3% and 21.42%, respectively. The results of this study confirmed that the short-term consumption of Momordica charantia L. extract has the effect of protecting the liver in adult fatty liver model mice. Therefore, in the future, if the elderly need to be controlled by drugs for metabolic diseases, supplemented with edible bitter gourd products can reduce the burden on the body caused by chemical drugs.
