Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北藝術大學 === 音樂學研究所 === 107 === In the 1970s, under the political and diplomatic chaos in Taiwan, the society raised a wave of national consciousness and opened the era of campus folk songs. In the creation of popular songs, there were cases where literary works are transformed into lyrics. Taiwanese musician and composer, Li Tai-Hsiang (1941–2014), was no exception; in addition to creating serious music and adapting traditional folk songs, Li Tai-Hsiang also published many popular songs. The popular songs created by Li Tai-Hsiang in the 1970s and 1980s were regarded as classics by the public. In the popular songs of the time, "Li Tai-Hsiang style" has unique and highly recognizable characteristics. As for the characteristics of music, there is no specific answer yet. Therefore, this thesis will take Li Tai-Hsiang's songs as the research subject, and carry out the research on the characteristics of "Li Tai-Hsiang style" in the category of popular music.
The first chapter, "Introduction", introduced the full text. The second chapter, "The History of Taiwanese Popular Music", was divided into three stages: the Japanese colonial period, post–World War II and period of martial law, and after the lifting of martial law. The third chapter, "Introduction to Li Tai-Hsiang's Biography", discussed Li Tai-Hsiang's life and popular music creation, and concept as the forerunner of the fourth chapter. The fourth chapter, "Selection and Analysis of Li Tai-Hsiang's Popular Songs", selected Li Tai-Hsiang's eight popular songs and researched about lyrics and music. The fifth chapter, "The emergence of "Li Tai-Hsiang" style of features", was based on the results of the third chapter and the fourth chapter, to show two features which "Li Tai-Hsiang style" was special and rich. Finally, summarized in the sixth chapter, "Conclusion", to clarify Li Tai-Hsiang had important position and influence in the history of popular music.
