Summary: | 碩士 === 淡江大學 === 教育科技學系碩士在職專班 === 107 === “Soft skills” is a very important topic to new graduates, because they are facing a critical problem -
employment. The career counselors and employers now commonly agree the new graduates lack stability and stress resilience”. Since universities and colleges do not provide career transition classes, the new gradates often are not prepared or ready for the job market. Therefore, the new graduates should onsider other sources of learning to prepare themselves.
As mobile devices and internet rise at a rapid pace, a lot of educational resources have become very accessible. The “mobile classroom” allows learning that is no longer limited within traditional class rooms. Among all the platforms, interactive e-books become one of the good choices for learning. The new graduates can search for desired topics, understand their learning progress, and develop their personal learning systems.
This research has conducted surveys which were analyzed by three experts in the areas of content design, teaching materials, and platform design. The opinions gathered from the surveys then will be implemented in teaching materials and class design. The modified classes and materials will be practiced and the interactions and responses of the participants will be observed and further analyzed.
Based on the research results, the real-life simulation leaves a great impression on the participants. Since the classes and materials were designed according to the participantsʼ experience, the participants become more motivated. The learning experience has become easier due to the combination of text material and use of multimedia. The learning experience was not overwhelming due to excessive inputs and information. The proper sizing of fonts and the customized editing allows the participants to read more efficiently. The all-around-designed platform improves the learning experiences and also meets the guidelines for educational training.
After this experiment, the research suggests:
1. Include an interview during the performance review. If necessary, a second interview should be conducted. Interviews help to track the progress of the participants.
2. Categorizing the study results by different demographics in future research and further analyzing the effect of e-learning and its correlation with different demographics.
3. Conducting research toward stress levels of individuals, organizations and families.
Also conduct research in employability and other areas to help the new graduates to transition into workplace smoothly.
