| Summary: | 碩士 === 淡江大學 === 美洲研究所亞太研究數位學習碩士在職專班 === 107 === The objective pursued for this research is to describe and analyze the birth and development of ASEAN impacted by the political-historical environment of each member, this situation set a precedent for the establishment of this regional body, which has become a reference in the issues of cooperation and security, for this reason it is important its incidence in the South China Sea conflict, where it meets the region of Southeast Asia and that limits the south of China, this territorial conflict dates back to the middle of the 50s, taking as claimant countries to the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, Taiwan and the People''s Republic of China, which in recent years has staged clashes over possession of the disputed islands, however the Chinese economic resurgence has been interested in being part of ASEAN + 1, and consolidate and deepen its strategic partnership.
