However, that model did not consider the whole solid angles. In this paper, we improve the multi-angle director model and propose the method to calculation the whole solid angles. First, we replace the blue phase liquid crystal (BPLC) cell by stacking nematic liquid crystal (NLC) cells to conform the characteristics of the blue-phase liquid crystal. We simulate the distribution of the tilt angle of the molecules by using the simulation software (LCD Master 2D), then we calculate the effective ordinary refractive index, no, and extraordinary refractive index, ne, respectively. Finally, we calculate the total phase of the BPLC cell. By adjusting dielectric anisotropy (∆ε) and intrinsic birefringence (∆n), it can be found that the simulation results fit the experimental results very well. (2)3D display backlight design: In this paper, we propose a backlight structure for the application of 3D display.
