碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 管理學院外國學生專班(IMBA) === 107 === With this thesis, the Dutch School Taipei will investigate whether it is a feasible business opportunity to expand and start Dutch Language and Culture lessons in Hsinchu. The opportunity will be successful when the school can breakeven on the costs. This thesis is the elaboration of a business plan for starting a Dutch school in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Right now, the “Nederlandse School Taipei” offers Dutch lessons in Taipei and would like to explore the possibility to expand to Hsinchu. Taiwan is building windmill parks to phase out nuclear plants by 2025. These windmill parks offer big contracts for Belgium and Dutch companies like Van Oort and Jan de Nul and will bring a lot of Dutch speaking families to Taiwan, as they have done before. Also, one of the biggest companies in Taiwan, ASML, is located in Hsinchu. This could be a good business opportunity for the Dutch school as well. The Dutch School Taipei is a key player in the Belgium and Dutch community. The school brings Dutch speaking people together from all over Taiwan by organizing events. It is not a commercial institution, which means they do not have to make a lot of revenue. Their goal is to breakeven so they can cover the costs to teach Dutch to their community. They have been offering Dutch classes to the community since 1989 and is an accredited Dutch Language and Culture School (NTC) in Taipei. The school is affiliated with the Netherlands Foreign Education Foundation (NOB) and is supervised by the Inspection of Education from the Dutch Ministry of Education.
