Firstly, the double pulse tester was built and used to investigate the switching characteristics of SiC MOSFET and IGBT. Hence, the test results can be used to determine shortest blanking time, design gate griver circuit, and estimate the switching loss and characteristic of reverse recovery. Then the inverter manufactured by Rhymebus with 16kHz switching frequency and 2us blank time is used as the benchmark to verify the influence of the higher switching frequency on the dynamic characteristics, such as the bandwidth of current loop and speed loop. Finally, a lower speed control method based on the operating principle of synchronous motor is proposed for improving the stability of low speed operation on a PMSM equipped with low resolution encoder. All the tests are fulfilled by the digital signal processor (TMS320F28075) based motor drive, and the results show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
