Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 材料科學與工程研究所 === 107 === A composite material consists of two or more individual materials. The performances of the composite are enhanced by the trade-off of the constituents. The objective of this study was to produce Ti/SUS420/Ti composite plate by rolling pure Ti and SUS420 stainless steel sheets. The microstructures and mechanical properties of rolled Ti/SUS420/Ti composite plate were investigated. According to the SEM, EDS, and XRD results, no crack is found at the interface. Moreover, a 3 μm-thickness TiC compound is formed at the interface.
About the hardness property, the average hardness of the Ti layer in the as-rolled composite plate (untreated) is 209 HV. After 800℃ heat treatment, the hardness is increased to 285 HV. Based on the hardness of the cross-section, the hardness near the interface at the SUS420 side is obviously lower that that inside the SUS420 plate. This results indicates that the hardness near the interface of the composite plate is affected by diffusion of chemical elements. Furthermore, the as-rolled composite plate exhibits the highest tensile strength of 1227 MPa and bending strength of 1852 MPa. The heat treatment leads to the decrease in the tensile strength and bending strength.
