Summary: | 碩士 === 亞洲大學 === 心理學系 === 107 === Background: Boundary extension is occurred when people misremembered the wide-angle scene instead of the original view. BE is served as a criterion of observing an individual’s ability of scene construction, episodic memory, memory-guided attention and false memory. In addition, levels of BE is able to reflect the functioning of hippocampi and prefrontal cortices in normal aging. However, there is yet to have the related tools for measuring BE in Taiwan. The study is aimed to take residents in Taichung as the local norm and further developed the Boundary Extension Phenomenon Test-Taiwan Revised Version (BEPT) with the consideration of time and resources. Objective: The aim of the present study is to develop BEPT and its norm, which took place in healthy adults in Taichung. The effects of demographic variables on the BEPT performances and psychometric properties of BEPT were also investigated. Methods: One hundred participants in Taichung were recruited by stratified sampling method, such as age (ranging from 20 to 75 years old), education (ranging from 0 to 18 years), and gender, while among 30 of them were randomly selected for examining test-retest reliability. Results: BE was positively associated with age, negatively associated with education and ture memory. The results revealed that BEPT had an acceptable internal consistency reliability, test-retest reliability, criterion-related validity, and construct validity. Conclusion: The present study excluded the effects of demographic variables on BEPT performance and established a percentile comparison table with corrected score in order to provide the clinicians references regarding the false memory evaluation, and cognitive decline rate and cognition retention detection. This study also provided the health adults sample to the researchers who are interested in BE study.
