Family provides socialization, emotional sharing, childbearing, social status, economic security and protection etc. The function of family is unique and cannot be replaced. In a family, parents give attention and guidance and this set as example for children. The relationship between husband and wife will affect a child’s emotion, cognitive and behavior. As children grow, they will apply what have been learned in the family in their dealing with others. So much so that it affects their choice of spouse, their marital relationship and subsequently their parent-child relationships. When family no longer can care for the child, the child will be placed in a residential institution. Residential institution tries to care for these children in a family-like set up. Can the past experience from their original family be transformed in the new environment? Under what circumstances can they be changed? This study look into the lives of client of Christian Mountain Children’s Home. They are either independent living clients or leaved clients who got married. Through qualitative interviews, understand that they are able to break away from the influence of family of origin and create a new healthy home image of their own. The finding of the research are as follows: 1. Clients are aware of the mistakes made in the family of origin. 2. Clients are able to observe and tell the different family images. 3. Under a better care, clients can have different experience. 4. Clients learn the meaning of love in the Christian faith. 5. After the clients arrive at the institution, they can be transformed by the teaching given and example shown by the important others. This study suggests that residential institution is able to provide care and love to satisfy the needs of clients. The institution is able to help healing and led them to the Lord. Through the help enable them to realize that they can have breakthrough and able to start a family of their own.
