Description
Summary:博士 === 東方設計大學 === 文化創意設計研究所 === 107 === Study on the virtual and real expressions of mixed media works Graduate:Jung-He Tien Advisor:Prof.shu-Ming Wu This paper explores the presentation of “abstract and concrete” via composite media Abstract In an era full of diversification and social change, a new world of the arts is developing dramatically. Through the images of all sorts of objects, artists are expressing their feelings with their paint brushes to release the pain and creative desire in their minds. Artists respond to nature with their art works; as time passes, their thoughts change as well. Each change inspires their life with significant meaning, whereby artists discover themselves once again. This paper explores the presentation of “abstract and concrete” via composite media. By employing the art work to present the researcher’s mind code, the research moves from “a description of images” to “psychophysical reaction” inspired by “objects,” which includes emotional transference and projection. Based on the concept of “abstract and concrete”, after observing the appearances of objects and the feelings in mind, this paper develops four main research directions: 1. Distance in mind: the cognition at the current stage. I will employ “Art” and “Dao” (the ideal way) to discuss the mental distance between the abstract and concrete concepts. 2. Aesthetic experience: the self-examining process during creation. By “intuitively” observing objects, “self-examination” occurs in an artist’s mind. I’ll use the objective aesthetic experience to study the mind’s reaction to objects. 3. Abstract and concrete concepts in time: self-examining one’s past, and exploring the role “time” plays in life experience and mind status. 4. Life experience: the process and expectation of pursuing the arts. With a fantasized creation process, artists can compensate for the emptiness they feel in reality, narrow the gap between dream and reality, and reduce the differences between their values. With the passage of time and the pursuit of knowledge, artists can examine themselves, and express their thoughts and feelings in their art works. An artist of composite media creation employs his/her “painting experience” and three types of composite media to express the evolution of “abstract and concrete” concepts during the creation process. This process is the pursuit of creation and the realization of the dream of creativity. 1. The abstract and concrete viewing angles: sticking the water color painting to the stainless steel mirror. With the refraction of the mirror, observers will change their viewing angle. The images in their eyes will be distorted, which forms an artsy perception world mixing with reality and fantasy, and revealing an alternative visual miracle in life. 2. The abstract and concrete images inside/outside the door: discussing the conflicts and struggles inside/outside the “door” (a metaphor for life.) 3. The driftwood from the abstract and concrete viewing angles: driftwood is a gift from God. From a distance, the audience can appreciate its design and color changes in the light. When taking a close look, the audience can see the single colored roses painted by the artist. With the production process and description of these three pieces of “abstract and concrete” work, I hope to provide students with useful learning materials and media application methods.
