碩士 === 樹德科技大學 === 應用設計研究所 === 107 === The Kababaye-an sa Opon Nagkahiusa Alang sa Kalamboan (Women of Opon United for Development of the City acronym KONKA) is an Opon based women empowerment cooperative which sells, among other products, powder detergent. Under the existing marketing design for this product, the powder is simply wrapped in thin clear plastic and seal using a candle. An important part of the Marketing is packaging: naming the product, designing a logo, and deciding on which type of packaging would be used. Bear in mind that the product was intended to be as cheap an option as possible. Marketing is now a trend that can break or make a product. It does not start with selling nor does it end with the distribution. The most basic part of marketing is packaging the product. Existing detergents were criticized using cross-design analysis and S.W.O.T analysis This study uses a qualitative action research design, non-probability purposive sampling technique to interview the officials of the cooperative in the hope of the improving existing packaging of the detergent powder being sold. The cooperative operates in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu province, The Philippines. Another brief from the co-op was that the packaging should be as green as possible. Recycled cardboard was accepted as the material for the packaging. The findings of this study were used to create suggested packaging styles. The researcher tasked himself to apply cross-comparative design analysis to assist and uplift the cooperative by raising the standards of packaging to make it more acceptable to a local market. The recommended designs were paper bag type, box type, sachet style, cardboard type, triangular and cylindrical type. These packaging styles were sent to the cooperative as the recommended packaging style. KONKA received these designs, but they need approval from all of their members.
