| Summary: | 碩士 === 東吳大學 === 音樂學系 === 107 === The theme of this research paper is the ‘’Suite Italienne’’ which was composed by Stravinsky according to the neoclassical ballet, Pulcinella. ‘’Pulcinella’’ was composed by Stravinsly, the transcript of Leonid Massine(1896-1979), and the set design of Pablo Picasso(1881-1973). The debut was a hit which was conducted by Ansermet.’’ Pulcinella’’ was rearranged for the orchestral version in 1922. Furthermore, with the assistance of the cellist, Gregor Piatigorsky(1903-1976), it was rearranged for another version for cello and piano in 1932.
First , the thesis discusses the composer’s biography and the style of composition. Second, it introduces the background of ‘’Pulcinella’’ and the Suite ‘’Italienne’’. Finally, it analyzes and interprets the content of the music to help the musicians to understand the music more deeply.
