Other than that, high education fees, expensive professional training and energy consuming job responsibility are also testing the counselling psychologist willingness and loyalty to this work. However, the past research has revealed that counselling psychologists usually have high career commitment. This study attempts to explore the relevant factors affecting the career commitment of counseling psychologist, including external job satisfaction and career calling. The study adopted survey research design and the participants include 180 counselling psychologists who have licenses and still engage in counselling business in Taiwan. The variables used in the research are external job satisfaction, career calling, career commitment, and personal background. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis. The main finding of this study are: 1. The extent of external job satisfaction among the participants is moderate. Additionally, both scores of career calling and career commitment are high. 2. Counselling psychologists who are working at the private counselling centre receive higher scores in satisfaction of work treatment, career calling, and career commitment compare to those who are working at school. 3. Freelance counselling psychologists receive higher scores in job satisfaction and work treatment, career calling, and career commitment than full-time counselling psychologists. 4. Counselling psychologists with more than 10 years of working experiences receive significantly high scores in career calling and career commitment. Relatively, counselling psychologists with 2 to 5 years of working experiences have lower scores significantly. 5. There is a weak positive relationship between external job satisfaction and career commitment while there is a strong positive correlation between career calling and career commitment and there is a moderate positive relationship between external job satisfaction and career calling. 6. 75.5% of the variation of career commitment can be explained by career calling, especially by passion for interest, selfless dedication, and Altruism. 7. The variation of career contribution can be explained by Altruism independently. 8. The variation of “career enterprising” can be explained by education pipeline, passion for interest, existential meaning, and selfless dedication. 9. The variation of ‘tendency of employment’ can be independently explained by ‘passion for interest’. Based on the finding, this study provide recommendations and suggestions to counselling psychologists, employers, and teachers separately. Lastly, the limitations of the research and recommendations for further research also be discussed in the study. XIU, HUI-LAN 修慧蘭 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 126 zh-TW
