Summary: | 碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 資訊傳播工程學系 === 107 === Observation of stellar is difficult in our daily life because of weather constraints, light pollution or locations. Although some planetariums in Taiwan were built, people have few chance to use them due to constraint of time and locations. Currently, some teaching supplementary tools, such as planisphere (star wheel), are used for assisting in understanding of stellar; however, it's hard for students to connect knowledge with our real starry sky. Here we proposed a system architecture based on VR (Virtual Reality) technology to simulate starry sky for students to learn fundamental of earth sciences.
This research focuses on the development of a VR-based system in education to assisting teaching and learning starry sky of earth sciences. The system provides two modes supporting different learning needs. The first one is guidance mode which a teacher can use HTC vive focus to observe starry sky with students who use cardboard. The second is self-study mode which supports students to study after class.
18 senior high school teachers from central Taiwan were invited to join this project and 123 students were participated to carry out the experiments. Additionally, 33 students were selected to participate in a formal earth sciences class with pre-test and post-test experiment. The experimental result shows that our VR-based system provides useful functions for teachers in teaching topics of starry sky and for students in arising their motivation and learning effectiveness.
