Summary: | 碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 化粧品科學系 === 107 === The green color of green tea (Camellia sinensis) is derived from Chlorophyll, and Chlorophyll can also be considered as a source of natural pigment in cosmetics. Furthermore, Chlorophyll has antioxidative, antimutagenic effects, and can prevent skin cancer. However, Chlorophyll is very sensitive to changes in pH value, high temperature and light exposure, and cause discoloration or degradation of Chlorophyll. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to take use of Chitosan–tripolyphosphate microcapsules to encapsulate Green tea/Sweet almond oil extract through ionotropic gelation that the protonated amino groups of chitosan were cross-linked with multivalent polyanions of sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP), and we would apply this Green tea/Sweet almond oil extract microcapsule with sustained release effects to handmade soap and jelly mask as natural pigment.
In this study, the encapsulation efficiency, particle size, polydispersity Index and morphological property of microcapsule were examined by changing key parameters such as, chitosan concentration, Green tea/Sweet almond oil extract : Tween 80 mass ratio and tripolyphosphate concentration. Furthermore, the pH value test, release rate and percutaneous absorption test of microcapsule were also analyzed. Lastly, we applied microcapsule to handmade soap and jelly mask, and the color retention ability of handmade soap has been tested. The results showed that the highest encapsulation efficiency of microcapsule was 81.05%. When observing morphological property of microcapsule, it showed a spherical particle with dark periphery, and its release rate reached 38.80% at 512 hrs. Furthermore, when it comes to the pH value test and manufacture of handmade soap, the results revealed that Green tea/Sweet almond oil extract microcapsule can protect Green tea extract, the color of handmade soap with the addition of Green tea/Sweet almond oil extract microcapsule hardly faded in 90 days. The results of percutaneous absorption test of microcapsule revealed that Green tea/Sweet almond oil extract microcapsule had the highest percutaneous absorption rate at 3.88 mg/cm2. Lastly, it also confirmed that Green tea/Sweet almond oil extract can penetrate and absorb into skin much easier than other ingredients with the help of Chitosan–tripolyphosphate microcapsule.
