Six adolescent swimmers from Taipei Municipal Nan-Gang High School were recruited as research participants. Interviews were conducted by using semi-constructive questions, and data was analyzed by phenomenological approach that adapted coding method from grounded theory in order to identify, name, categorize and describe phenomena found in the interview transcripts. The results indicated that elite adolescent swimmers tend to have a conscientiousness personality trait. However, average adolescent swimmers tend to be an openness one. The results also revealed that elite swimmers accept responsibility for their swimming. When a self-selected goal couldn’t be achieved as they plan, they inclined to reflect on a situation and to adjust themselves before seeking outside help. They were grittier and more competitive compared to average swimmers, and often viewed a same-level competitor or teammate as a source of pressure. In addition, Elite adolescent swimmers were capable of managing themselves to stick to regular training and reduce stress that help ascertain their self-selected objectives and pursuit long-term goals. Finally, proper attitudes and mentalities were self-perceived key factors to perform well in sport for adolescent swimmers. WEI,SHIANG-MING LEE,LING-CHUN 魏香明 李凌純 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 89 zh-TW
