Research integrates imaging system and electromechanical system through detection software. An automatic optical inspection system was established for the defects of plastic injection molded gears. The product to be tested in the paper is a plastic injection molding gear, and its plastic molding will produce some defective products in the manufacturing process. Developed to detect automated plastic molding gear defects. The detection method is to automatically locate and image the plastic molding gear by the USB photographic device, and then detect the defects by mechanical vision, and use the programmable logic controller as the automation operation platform, NI Vision Builder AI is an image processing and detection module that integrates it to achieve the purpose of detecting the defect of the injection molding gear. With the establishment of this system, the automatic detection method for this product can be completed in the experimental verification phase while identifying two products, and the average sampling time is about 0.54 seconds to achieve the production line demand of this product.
