Tourism, leisure activities and entertainment have become people's spiritual pursuit to enjoy their life. Therefore, airports, stations, parks, playgrounds and other public places have become places where people gather around. At the moment, obsolete equipment, low utilization rate, insufficient humanization and some other problems exist in the supporting facilities of many public places while washbasins have already become an indispensable equipment in public places. It is not difficult for us to find that there is a lack of hand sanitizer and dryer in some public places which are urgent problems to be solved. Research on this paper is aim to solve the current problems to many shortcomings of washbasins through taking Universal Design theory as the foundation. From the perspectives such as the development history of the washbasins, current situation analysis and competitive analysis, taking questionnaire survey, actual interview, classification and comparison and so on as the research methods to collect and analyze the data. It is hoped that to understand people's ideas and suggestions for current washbasins and provide data reference for future design and research of the washbasins. The overall design of the washbasins is modeled by Rhino Professional Software and rendered by Keyshot Tools. On the basis of improving the functions of the washbasins, it strives to be artistic in appearance and human-oriented, and presents the entity in combination with 3D printing technology at the same time. At a later stage, with the method of actual interview through the elaboration and analysis of the functions of the relevant parts of the washbasins, this paper systematically introduces the highlights of the research and design of the washbasins to aim at exploring its future development direction.
