A vertical-axis wind turbine was installed on the rear compartment of the vehicle. It utilized to the wind resistance of driving vehicle to convert wind power into electric energy and supply to the vehicle electrical system, which not only increased the electricity, but also achieved energy saving and lower fuel consumption. The effect of energy efficiency is finally explored and the feasibility of combining wind turbines with vehicles was also evaluated. The research establishes the vehicle 3D model with CAD software fiest, and then the CAE softwared was utilized to implement the vehicle wind simulation to know the overall wind resistance of the vehicle, and arehicle wind charging system turbine that can improve the stability of the vehicle and save energy was developed. The experiment placed a micro vertical axis wind turbine in the rear compartment of the vehicle, using a battery as a backup power source to charge independently. The power generation test uses three different plates which are plastic, aluminum, and steel. The vehicle is driven on high way, and the experimental results showed that the steel plate has the best power generation. The experimental results show that in the CAE simulation, when the external wind speed of the vehicle is 15m/s, the overall drag coefficient of the vehicle increased from 0.573 to 0.5738, but the lift coefficient also decreased from 0.528 to 0.3988.
