Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 電機工程系 === 107 === Mobile devices such as smart phones and notebooks has become popular consumer products, and the wireless communication function is one of the essential part. Mobile terminal antenna designs are different depending on device environment. For example, the design needs for notebooks with narrow bezel and metal enclosure are different from conventional ones. The antenna design takes into account its position on the platform. The first part of this thesis proposes a WLAN dual-band antenna design for narrow-bezel notebooks. The antenna is placed at the top edge of the display.. The resonant modes in high and low bands can be adjusted independently. The antenna is fed by a coaxial cable, and the overall antenna sizes are 26.5 × 4 × 0.8 mm3. Measurement results show that the proposed antenna has acceptable gain and high radiation efficiency in WLAN bands. The second design is a WLAN dual-band antenna in the hinges of a laptop with metal enclosure. The design combines a loop antenna with a slot structure. The overall sizes are 18 × 11.5 × 5.2 mm3, which is small enough to accommodate hinge region. The design is to be used on a laptop with a flipping display, which can be configured into laptop and tablet modes. The antenna shall support WLAN operations in both modes. The design performance has been verified with measured results. The antenna has a good radiation efficiency and nearly-omnidirectional patterns under both postures.
