Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 中國音樂學系 === 107 === Henan zheng music is one of the most widely circulated, most influential, and most representative schools of zheng music. It has an extensive repertoire that is both richly varied and essentially local in style. Some of the Henan zheng pieces are derived over time from ditties and melodies in Yu Opera, having absorbed the elements of this music genre and thus developed an impressive and colorful style. After identifying the historical connection between Henan zheng music and Yu Opera, this study took two Henan zheng solo pieces, “Welcome the Bridal Sedan” and “Capriccio of Nan Yang Guzi,” as examples to analyze the composers’ creative backgrounds, as well as the creative elements and phrases used in the works. By doing so, this study examined the adoption of the Yu Opera, “Carry the Sedan Chair,” in the two works from a comprehensive perspective. A face-to-face interview with the composer revealed the prototype of the opera tune in the newly composed zheng works, its transformations and developments, and the creative thoughts behind the works. By analyzing the two zheng pieces, the author of this study identified the music elements of the Yu Opera tune and found that both works have adopted the playing skills and characteristics to Henan zheng music. The results of this study showed that the method and creative idea of using a qupai in the composition of new Henan zheng works, namely using the zheng to imitate and convey vocal intonation and sound, have not only highlighted the playing characteristics of Henan zheng music but also preserved the special intonation of Yu Opera. This compositional method is a practical means to preserve traditional music and foster new developments in it.
