In the fiercely competitive news environment, in order to draw audience attention, from the choice of news topics to the post-production methods, more stimulating and eye-catching methods are applied. In addition to this, with the popularity of mobile devices, social news materials have advanced to the use of the crime scene monitor screen, the cipher screen provided by the police, and even a live broadcast of the crime for the reporter to quote again. The news content that should have been popularized no longer seems suitable for children to watch. The experimental method, coupled with in-depth interviews were adopted in this study to gain an insight into the appeal of sensory news to children and their understanding of news and further understand the sense of fear and trust in society after viewing sensory news. The findings show that although fancy editing and animation can arouse the interest of most children, the choice of news topics is the key that truly affects children’s feelings and willingness to watch. Therefore, taking into account both the viewership ratings and giving back to children a friendly news space, news stations ought to separate children viewing times and adult viewing times and coordinate with Media literacy programs implemented by schools in order to effectively reduce the fear in children that is brought about after watching social news from a sensationalistic news production.
