The pulse charging method is used to enhance the lifecycle of battery and ensure that the power generation achieves high efficiency by solar panel because of the unlimited charging current which is the characteristic of pulse charge. First, according to the characteristic of pulse charge, we explain how to improve the traditional stand-alone solar PV system through pulse charging method and have two approaches to implement the combination, including the interleaved pulse charging which has two sets of battery and the capacitor-energy-storage pulse charging which use the capacitor to store energy. The second part of this study, we build three real systems that include the traditional stand-alone solar PV system (i-sCon 3), the interleaved pulse charging (i-sCon 3+P) and the capacitor-energy-storage pulse charging (i-sCon 3+C), and then we run these three systems for several days trying to find out what system has the best efficiency and the maximum amount of electricity generation.
