Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 農業經濟學研究所 === 107 === Minimum Wage have always regarded as an important policy to ensure labor’s life and improve the inequality of income in society. However, will it cause more labor lose their job is still a dispute issue, and there are few papers in Taiwan discuss about how minimum wage influence the employment. Hence, my research strive to find out the answer by using difference in difference, and try to show how important it is to find an appropriate control group. Using “Manpower Utilization Quasi-longitudinal Data” from Survey Research Data Archive for 2013-2017, I compare control group including high wage labor with control group just include low wage labor, the results are different. Base on the spirit of natural experiment, I think “Waget.1.1≦MWt+1≦Waget.1.2” is a more appropriate control group. In the empirical results, the results show that minimum wage will cause negative affect on employment, in addition, the effect will be affected by economic factor, law and the increase in minimum wage. At the second part of my empirical result, I analyze minimum wage affect on different ages, and it turns out that, minimum wage is more likely to have positive affect on teens, and have negative effects on elders.
