Taiwan could be one of main players if we could integrate hardware and software capabilities like “Internet of Things,” (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and big data technologies. There are diverse of products associated with smart home developed in the market. However, consumers are willing to adopt smart home technology, but consumers might not be willing to pay for it. This gap shows the opportunity of the new business model. This thesis focuses on establishing an innovative business model associated with personalized and rental service to facilitate efficiency and reduce cost for consumers. The research objective is establishing an innovative business model to assist people improving sleep quality with smart home technology. Insomnia is a significant public health problem with substantial medical, psychiatric, and financial ramifications. Approximately 25% of the general adult population experience insomnia symptoms in Taiwan. The smart home technologies could generate enormous demand and profits for sleep monitoring, reducing environmental disturbance, and improving sleep quality. The research clarified target customer segments through literature review and clarified customer needs through the qualitative method with value proposition model and business model canvas from Alex Osterwalder.
