Ethnicities and generations are regarded as vital social cleavage. The stereotypes of “Waishengren” in Taiwan is that they label themselves as Chinese, support for KMT and political unification. However, as time goes by, has it changed between different generations? In order to compare the identity of three generations of “Waishengren” in Taiwan, I conducted in-depth interview of 10 families by snowballing. With the framework of emotional and rational, the study aims to realize the ethnic consciousness, national identity and state imagination differences of three generations of “Waishengren” in Taiwan.
