碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 兒文所 === 106 === 　　Song of the Sea is an animated movie directed by Tomm Moore, and also is the second feature film by the Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon. Song of the Sea nominated for Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film in 2015, also the winner of European Film Award for Best Animated Feature Film in the same year. There are many details about Irish culture and Irish myth in Song of the Sea, so the best way to understand something behind it is to learn the Irish culture and Irish myth that related to this movie. I will do the textual analysis of Song of the Sea in two parts: Irish folktales behind the characters and Irish cultural things that include Irish landscape, Irish festival and Irish cultural heritage in the movie. Through doing the thesis and researching, I hope that readers would get information and realize that Song of the Sea is not just a simple animation but has many Irish native elements in it and that is important.
