Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 幼兒與家庭教育學系碩士在職專班 === 107 === This study aims to reveal the association between the parenting of gender roles and the representation of gender images of young children.
Purposive sampling is adopted by this study in which 100 young children in between level 2 and 3, aged from 5 to 6, of kindergartens under public elementary schools in Taipei City were selected to make drawings about male and female gender images. Moreover, the same amount of pre-testing questionnaire were distributed to their parents.
Then, the qualitative data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics and analysis of variance within SPSS Statistics Version 22.0.
The findings of this study show that:
1. The biggest difference between the gender images of the drawings of
young children is the “hairstyle”; the smallest difference is the
“accessories".
2. The results of the questionnaire concerning the parenting of gender
roles show that both the differences of male and female hairstyles talked
about with the parents while reading picture books, and of their
hairstyles lead to apparent diversities in their drawings of male and
female hairstyles.
3. The results of the questionnaire also show that "the parents don’t like
to wear accessories” and "the differences between the accessories for male
and female are less discussed by parents through media and in culture" are
influential to the fact that young children tends to draw paintings with
less difference in male and female accessories.
