碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 藝術與造形設計學系碩士班 === 107 === The thesis takes " The Movement of Life –The Artist Statement of Kuei-Lan Chen " as the topic, the motivation of creation originates from the experience of my injury and opening the road to learn the violin unex-pectedly. My inspiration of creation is through the process of learning the violin and "violin" and "circle" are the main elements, summarizing three major connotations of works as " The Symphony of Ceramics ", "The Symphony of Violin" and "The Waltz of Life ". The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is "Introduc-tion", it is mentioned the background, motivation and purpose of my crea-tion. The second chapter is "Literature Review". The method of study adopts the observation method by visiting the tribe of Chin-Ai to explore the process of making the violin for understanding the development and context of violins, further transforming the elements of violins into creative images by related literatures as the basis for the creation of tea sets. The third chapter is "Creation Ideas and Practices". It is used by the ceramics and wood materials as the presentation by holding the ceramic solo exhibition of " The Symphony of Ceramics " as the concrete practice of creation and expressing the movement of life by the violin. In addition, the form of creation is ceramics as the main material. Ceram-ic works are divided into non-practical and practical. The former uses the ceramic creations to present in the different course of the movement of life, the latter using "violin" as the creative element by making tea sets, combining the composite materials of ceramic and wood to present the spark of the fusion of oriental tea ceremony and western musical instruments. The fourth chapter is "Appreciation and Interpretation of Works". It divides the course of My Movement of Life into the trilogies for interpret-ing the dialogue of life with the clay and then the violin is used as the el-ement of creation, the carving knife is used to sculp the complete move-ment of life finally. The fifth chapter is "Conclusions and Prospects" by holding the ceramic solo exhibition of "The Movement of Life" as the concrete practice, merging the visual art and performing art. Finally, summarizing conclusions, research contributions and prospects, hoping to contribute my meager effort and insight to the ceramic industry by the the-sis in Taiwan.
